MUMBAI, October 27: Sharvari Kulkarni of Aurangabad logged 33.60 points to lead the under-17 girls category at the conclusion of four events in the State Inter-School Gymnastics Championship organised by the Maharashtra Amateur Gymnastics Association at the Shahaji Raje Krida Sankul (Andheri Sports Complex ) today.
Puneiite Anupama Bhinde, who had tallied 29.02 points was placed second behind Sharvari. Anupama’s city-mates Mansi Gondhikekar (28.80) and Deepali Pandey (26.12), ended up third and fourth repsectively.
The remaining two events will be held tomorrow and which will decide the eventual winner.
In the under-14 girls, Shruti Sarvare was leading at the end of first day events. Closely following her were three gymnasts — Gauri Jog (Pune), Priyanka Suratkar (Mumbai) and Apurva Gadmink (Thane).
The championship which began on Monday features 325 gymnasts from seven districts.
Meanwhile, the boys State team for the Sub-Junior Nationals to be held at Hyderabad from November 5th was announcedtoday.
The team: Akshay Khande (Thane), Saurabh Dashrathe, Umesh Shete, Vishal Kadam (all three from Aurangabad) Akhil Kabra, Tushar Suwarna, Gaurav Ratnaparkhi (all three from Mumbai).
Mahendra Babulkar of Nagpur has been appointed as the coach while Chandrasekhar Ranbhor of Pune will be the manager.
