How did you start working in films?
My father produced films and I got a lot of offers to act in movies. Then, there came a time when I decided that movies were what I wanted to do. So Baagi happened.

What did our family have to say about your decision?
My father was already into producing films. To my family, acting was just like any other career option. They have been with me all through my highs and lows.

The way you grew up…
I was independent and made my decisions right from the start. My parents gave me the right amount of freedom which helped me a lot.

And your friends…
Everybody is my friend. But close friends are few and they have stayed with me always.

You have done few films in Bollywood…
I have shifted my base to Mumbai and I am doing Chal Mere Bhai with Salman, Sanju and Karishma, there is Kuwara and Papa The Great opposite Govinda.

What do you do in your spare time ?
Earlier, I would read Danielle Steele. Right now, I am reading spiritual books like Himalayan Masters. Besides, I meditate. And then when I party, I party.

Your kind of music…
Soft and soothing.

Do you believe in God ?
I believe in God. But I am a God-loving person not a God-fearing one.

Your work for CRY…
I like children and the very fact that working with CRY I can make a difference to these children makes me very happy. They get a lot of inspiration from the thought that somebody cares for them. I should make use of my name for a good social cause.

What have you found out about yourself working with CRY ?
The joy I get working with the kids is immeasurable. I have found a new side to myself.

On marriage?
Not yet and have no plans in the near future.

On women in the next millennium….
Will definitely move higher.

Your plans now that you have shifted to Bollywood ?
I don’t think I want to do much more of running around the trees. I want to do quality films which provide all-round entertainment.

Your dream role…
Every actress wants to do a Mother India kind of role. My dream role has not yet happened. It is something even I don’t know yet.

The secret of your beauty
Doing good to others always comes back to you and reflects on your face.

On the movies being made today
Movies are expressions of emotions. Whatever is projected is what we have experienced. I don’t think that is bad. At the same time, what we see in theatres should remain there. It must not be imitated.

What are you doing at present ?
I have cut down on my work and will be working in fewer films. The rest of the time I will be working for CRY.
