Niranjan Thade and Tanuja Chaturvedi, the husband and wife team of the production company `Asa Nisi Masa’ have taken a penchant for shooting in Pune. Thade shot an episode for Star Bestsellers – Gulmohar a few weeks ago and now Tanuja is here to shoot for another episode.
So what projects have you done so far?
We have done 55 episodes of Geet Gaat Chal, Hero Kal Aaj Aur Kal, Bombay Laajawab and have worked on a lot more projects as associate director and cinematographer for Kya Scene Hai and Philips Top 10. I have also done a few documentaries.
How is it shooting in Pune?
Oh, shooting in Pune is beautiful. You can hear different birds chirping, there is peace and tranquillity that descends helps you work better. You have time to interact with actors, unlike in Mumbai where there is a mad rush for everything.
What makes a good director?
A good director should have a point of view, he should have something to say. He should have a keen sense of observation, patience and should be aggressive at the same time. n What do you prefer, serials or films?Definitely films. It is my first love. Though serials give me a lot of creative satisfaction. In films you have to keep to the script, the story line, in serials you can add a character, change lines, change the whole scene, improvise with every episode and finally achieve growth. I like doing fiction stories for serials.
Your future projects?
I am planning to make a film. Ideally a bilingual film (Marathi and Hindi). I want to shoot it particularly in Pune and Silicon Valley, America. Pune is one unique place.
On one side you have a total wada look and on the other it is full of modern facilities. Culture and progress blend very well in this city. Traditional as well as modern life exists in Pune side by side. This is what I would like to portray in my film.
Which directors do you admire?
I like the techniques used by Steven Spielberg very much.
