A Reliance Telecom engineer and a contractor were chased and gunned down on a busy road of Patna this noon.Two others were severely injured as the attackers sprayed bullets and fled. Engineer Sanjeev Kumar and contractor Ravi Ranjan died within minutes. The attackers, on a motorcycle, were targetting the contractor who was travelling in a car with the engineer. The two were returning from a site inspection at Hajipur around 2.30 pm when the attackers trailed them. Near the busy Bahadurpur railway crossing, they caught up and fired at the car. The shootout took place just 50 yards from a police checkpost. City SP Rakesh Rathi said that the murders were the result of rivalry among contractors.
