
Indian Gym event draws 32 teams
"The first phase will have 32 teams in the fray. Phase two will be pruned to 16 of eight teams each leading into the semi-final and final," K Satyamurthy, the brainchild of the academy and the guiding force behind the tournament.
At stake in the tournament, sponsored by UM Khona and the Lapsia Trust, is prizes worth Rs 30,000, besides a certificate of merit for every participant.
Matches will be held at the Shivaji Park ground, Matunga Gymkhana and Indian Gymkhana. Matches will be of 30-overs limit a side. No bowler will be able to bowl more than six overs in an innings.

About 1,500 karatekas from 14 states will be taking part in the four-day championship, an official-sanctioned event of the World Karate Association.
