SAIL Academy at Cambridge SchoolA cricket academy, sponsored by the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), to ``identify talents in the field of cricket, train and give them the right exposure'' was formally inaugurated yesterday at the Cambridge School, Noida by K C Pant, former chairman, Finance Commission.The academy will initially start with a small group of 45-50 students from both senior and junior classes. They will be given thorough training in the different techniques of the game. SAIL will take care of the kitting and maintenance of the ground which includes two cemented and one turf wicket.PSB promotes hockey playersPunjab and Sind Bank has given `out-of-turn' promotion to Olympian Baljit Singh Saini and internationals Baljit Singh Chandi and Sandip Singh for their impressive record on the field of hockey. Saini has been promoted from JMGS I to manager, MMGS II; Chandi and Sandip from clerical to officer rank. All the three players were recruited under the `sports quota.' Saini was skipper of the Indian team that finished runners-up in the sixth Junior World Cup at Milton Keynes.Inter-school skating championshipsThe 11th inter-school skating championships will be held at J D Tytler School, New Rajinder Nagar from July 30 to August 1. The event is being organised by the Delhi Roller Skating Association and conducted by the Indian Roller Skating School.
