Going Dutch for the hockey World Cup

  • For the first time ever, Indian fans will be able to travel as a group to root for their team at the World Cup — thanks to the Golden Tulip Hockey Tour organised by a Mumbai-based sports management and organising firm.
  • Apekasha Cultural and Sports Organisation (ACOSA) have planned the tour in two parts the first (May 9 to June 2) intended to coincide with the youth squad’s tour of the Netherlands and the second (May 19 to June 2), to take in the senior men’s and women’s World Cup.

    Both parts of the tour will cost Rs 136,000 but those interested in the World Cup alone may take the second part which will cost Rs 98,200. Details may be obtained on telephone (4371413).

    West Zone under-14 cricket tourney

  • The Mumbai Cricket Association will be hosting the West Zone under-14 tournament from February 10. The eligibility of players for this tournament is that the boys should be born between September 1, 1985 and August 31, 1983.
  • The Mumbai teamfor the tournament has been selected and Vineet Indulkar will lead the side.

    The team: Vineet Indulkar (captain), Sangram Bagul (Vice-captain), Soham Dalvi, Paul Valthaty, Harshad Rawle, Rohit Salunke, Kumar Subramaniam, Mayank Dayal, Aditya Kulkarni, Farzan Siddique, Prasad Chavan, Sanchit Pande, Sagar Darhankar, Karim Zindani, Swapnil Tambe, Rohan Saldanha.

    Inter-Schools tennis, volleyball

  • The Mumbai Schools Sports Association will be conducting the 22nd annual Inter-School Lawn-Tennis Tournament for boys and girls from February 9 to February 20 at the Garden Tennis Academy, MSSA-Castrol Schools Sports Centre, Azad maidan (North end), Mahapalika Marg, Mumbai 400 001.
  • The Volleyball Tournament for boys and girls from February 9 to 16 at the MSSA-Castrol Schools Sports Centre, Azad Maidan.
