Great Escape rally draws 65 vehicles

This off-beat drive, the 16th in the series, has attracted some of the leading rally drivers of Mumbai and Pune. The 120 kms course, the tough, rocky & mushy back roads of Pali and Pen, could prove the real test for both man and machine.

Orlem road races

The 14th annual road race conducted by Orlem Sports Council will be held on September 26 at JBC Grounds, Orlem. Races will be conducted in eleven age groups — men open 12.5 kms, boys U-20 8 kms, boys U-17 5 kms, boys U-14 years 3 kms, boys U-12 2 kms, boys U-10 1 km, women open 5 kms, girls U-17 & girls U-14 3 kms, girls U-12 2 kms, girls U-10 1 km. The race will begin at 7 am at JBC Ground, Sunder Lane, Orlem. The men’s route will pass Marve and Aksa before turning back. The race is co-sponsored by Bank of Baroda, YS International, New India Assurance, AnitaEnterprises, Castrol Pvt Ltd, RL Family Trust and Borosil Glass Company.

Samasta indoor games

Samasta Brahman Mahasangh Indoor Games Tournament, 1999, will be held on September 26 and October 3 at BMC Kreeda Bhavan, Mahapalika Marg, CST from 9 am onwards. Competition will be held in carrom, chess, TT and badminton.

Squash little masters

Top juniors in the country are expected to take part in the Rs 1.3 lakh WMI Little Masters squash, to be held at Willingdon Sports Club from September 29 to October three. Junaid Nathani and Deepali Anvekar would lead the local challenge in the boys (U-19 and U-17) and girls (U-19) respectively.

The U-19 boys winner would be richer by Rs 20,000, while the U-17 boys and U-19 girls winners would take home Rs 14,000 each. The U-15 boys and U-13 girls champions would get Rs 6000 and Rs 5000 respectively.
