Maharashtra Inter-District and State Open Badminton Championship, scheduled to be held at Latur from August 30 to September 4, has been shifted to Laxmi Kreeda Mandir Club, Pune. The first junior State Championship would be held at Thane from August 22 to 28.

The last date to send in entries for the Pune meet is be August 24 while the last date for the junior tourney would be August 15.

Maharashtra Chess Assn office-bearers

AM Thipsay and RM Dongre were re-elected president and secretary of the Maharashtra Chess Association (MCA) for a two-year term. AS Karkhanis was elected treasurer and VN Thorat joint secretary, a release said here.Following are the office bearers: AM Thipsay (president), RM Dongre (secretary), MP Phadke (chairman).

Executive committee: AS Karkhanis (treasurer), VN Thorat (joint secretary), MD Bhagwat, SC Nigale, Vijay Deshpande and RA Bhave.

YMCA Open table tennis in August

The Bombay YMCA Open Maharashtra State Ranking table tennis tournament will be conducted from August 24 at the Sachivalaya Gymkhana. Entry forms are available at all YMCA centres and entries close on August 18. For further details: YMCA Central branch, Colaba. Tel: 2826384, 2020079.
