Mark Taylor hit an epic undefeated triple century as Australia piled up an imposing 599 for four against Pakistan on the second day of the second cricket Test today. The Australian captain, with a win under his belt and sensing a first ever series win in Pakistan, raised his arms in delight and waved his bat to the crowd after reaching 300.

But his opponent, Prahlad Srinath (ranked 541), had smelt victory and a brief detour was not going to stop him from a place in the final against Thailand’s Danai Udomchoke (1077). Srinath won 6-1, 7-5 in an hour and 35 minutes and said he had been “too soft” in the second set.
