England batting wilts again
England avoided the ignominy of a two-day defeat when Graeme Hick decided to try and resurrect his Test career by taking on the Australian pace bowlers. Hick found himself at the crease with the batting having crumbled again, this time to the swing bowling of Damien Fleming and he resorted to the aggressive approach to launch a counter-attack.
Junior chess
The day belonged equally to 19-year-old Darmen Sadvakasov of Kazakhstan and 17-year-old Krishnan Sasikiran of India. If Darmen Sadvakasov emerged the World junior boys chess champion with a round to spare, Sasikiran bounced back into the race for a possible medal with a crushing win over fourth seed Banikas Hristodoulos of Greece in the 12th round of the NTPC-Triveni World Junior Chess Champioships today.
Zimbabwe on top
Zimbabwe were heading for their first Test victory abroad after pace-pair Henry Olonga and Mpumelelo Mbangwa routed Pakistan for 103 in their second innings in the first Test today.
