A record of sorts was established in the DDCA league at the Kotla 2 here today when Ashoka Club amassed 458 for eight in the stipulated 40 overs — a record total at the venue. Himanshu struck 176 with the help of 19 sixes and seven boundaries in his 74-ball hurricane knock to help Ashoka beat Oriental Bank of Commerce on better run-rate. OBC replied wth 110 for four in 22 overs when rain put a halt to further play.

Hillgrove Public School (Safdarjung Enclave) won the Zone-19 volleyball tournament defeating LBS School, RK Puram 8-15, 15-1, 15-6 at DTEA Moti Bagh School. Pramod Gautam, Ravinder Singh, Naveen, Sandeep, Kapil, Davneet, Varun and Ashish Biswal played well for the winners.

Wajih triumphs
Nassir Wajih of Railways clinched the inter-ministry chess title with 10 points after beating Rajesh Kumar of Defence in the final round. VP Sharma (Rly) emerged runner-up with nine points.

In another match, Hindu College crushed Deen Dayal Upadhyay College by 223 runs.

Holders Salwan Boys won the third Bon Ton inter-school tournament by eight wickets defeating Modern School (Barakhamba Road) at Gyan Bharati School grounds. Dilip TT (114 n.o, 5 for 58, 3 for 42) and Pradeep Chawla (78) were the top contributors for the winners while Gautam Ghambhir (102) and Sonal Gidwani (92) were the top scorers for the losers.
