Basketball title for Hindu
Hindu College won the inter-college basketball championship of Delhi University overwhelming St Stephen’s College 84-60 at PGDAV College ground. Samarth (20), Shailender 18, Dheeraj (16), Ravinder (14) were the top scorers for the winners while John Chandy (17), Man Singh (16), Saurav Rana and Karan Singh (10 each) contributed for the losers. SRCC got the third position outwitting Kirori Mal College 67-63.

Oxford triumph
Oxford School crushed Guru Amardas School 77-19 in the boys section of eighth Vidyawati Alagh memorial basketball tournament at Mira Model School (Janakpuri) grounds. In another match, JD Tytler School downed Ramjas, Anand Parbat 50-25. In girls section, Govt Girls, Sarojini Nagar prevailed over Carmel Convent 20-19 in a closely-contested match while Loreto Convent thrashed Sumer Mal Jain 45-13.

Victor excels
Excellent batting by Willkins Victor (59) helped Garry’s Academy to enter the semifinal of Chacha Nehru memorial tournament (under-14) defeating St Marks School by 74 runs at Hari Nagar sports complex. In another match, Sidhant’s fine bowling (2 for 3) helped Crifit Academy beat Shanti Academy by six wickets in a low-scoring match.
Brief Scores: Garry’s Academy: 162 for 3 (Willkins Victor 59, Himanshu 41). St Marks: 88 (Mayank 30, Sudhir 3 for 15); Crifit: 79 for 4 (Abhishek 27, Shoaib 3 for 12). Shanti Academy: 78 (Praveen 24, Sunny 2 for 13, Sidhant 2 for 3).

Ranjan impressive
Deadly bowling by left-arm spinner Ajit Ranjan (4 for 24) enabled Amity International School (Saket) triumph over Birla Vidyaniketan School (Pushp Vihar) by 42 runs in the Laxman memorial inter-state tournament at Laxman Public School, Hauz Khas Enclave.
Brief Scores: Amity International: 175 for 8 (Abhishek 51, Subodh Gulati 37, Ajit Yadav 2 for 26, Pankaj Gambhir 2 for 35). Birla Vidyaniketan: 133 (Hemant Garg 30, Ajit Ranjan 4 for 24, Samarth Narula 3 for 27).

Paras, Abhishek shine
A fine spell of bowling by Paras Dogra (5 for 19), including hat-trick, enabled Bal Bharati School beat Salwan Public School by seven wickets in the RP Jain inter-school tournament at Ramjas grounds.

In another match, Abhishek (5 for 18) and Akshay (69) helped DAV School humble Bal Bharati School by 44 runs.

Inter-ministry hockey
The inter-ministry hockey tournament will start CCSCSB hockey ground, Vinay Marg from November 26. Interested ministries may send their entries to CCSCSB, Room No. 361, B Wing, Lok Nayak Bhavan by November 20. The Central Civil Services Cultural and Sports Board will be conducting trials for Central Secretariat hockey team between November 27 and 28 at Vinay Marg ground. Yuki beats Arav
Yuki Bhambri took one hour and 45 minutes to score a hard-earned 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 win over Arav Kapoor in boys (under-10) quarterfinals of Anurag Sengupta memorial mini tennis championships at Laxman Public School. In another match in the same section, favourite Honey Rana conceded the match to Mohit Kapoor due to ligament injury after leading 7-6 (7-4), 2-2. Yuki Bhambri also made it to the quarterfinals in Under-8 section as well, beating Puneet 6-4, 7-5.
