Himanshu advances
Himanshu Gupta beat Chandrajeet Jhala 8-5 in men’s singles first round of the O P Gupta memorial floodlit tennis tournament at Chelmsford Club. Arjun Uppal also had an easy outing as he blanked out Ashok Giri 8-0, Pratik Kumar downed Honey Rana 8-0 and Anil Goswami beat Sanchit Sharma 8-1.

Gagandeep (63) and Ashish (56) shared an unbroken stand of 129 to steer Selectronic triumph over Polaris in a pool B match of the fifth.
Brief Scores: Polaris: 127 all out in 19.3 overs (Hari 32, Pankaj 24, Vijay 2 for 18, Sanjeev 2 for 33) lost to Selectronic: 129 for no loss in 14.2 overs (Gagandeep 63 not out, Ashish 56 not out) by 10 wickets.
Wipro: 270 for 4 in 20 overs (Ashish 85, Rajgopal 69, Teevra 45, Krishna 2 for 42) beat SDRC: 113 for 4 in 20 overs (Hemant 58 not out, Rohit 2 for 16) by 157 runs.
Sub-junior boxing
The 20th Delhi state boxing championships for sub-juniors (12-17 years) will be organised from December 27 to 30 at Village Tekhand, near Campa Cola Factory, Okhla Industrial Area Ph-1. Entries close on December 25 with Raj Kumar/Satpal Nagar at the Boxing Federation office, Nehru Stadium.

Laxmi triumphs
Second seed Laxmi Negi defeated top seed Suman Bansal 24-25, 25-19, 25-10 in the final of carrom event as part of the DDA indoor games. S K Kapoor and Laxmi Negi entered the mixed doubles semi-final beating Padam Kumar and Vaneja 17-25, 25-16, 25-7. In another semi-final, Girish Kumar and Suman beat Harish Kohli and Pritam Kaur 24-9, 22-16.

Martial art meets
The Indian Karate Federation will organise an international invitational tournament at D I Khan School, R Block, New Rajinder Nagar on December 26. Participation will be held in different age and weight groups for boys and girls.

An all-India judo championship will be held at D Khan School from on December 29 and 30. The fifth National Taekwondo Championship will be conducted at Talkatora Indoor Stadium during December 26-27 from 9 am to 8 pm. Over 600 students from 16 states are likely to participate in the two-day event.

CRPF tennis
Southern Sector (S S Rawat, Randeep Dutta) beat Rapid Action Force (Tashi Dava, J S Gill) 6-0, 6-2 in a quarter-final match of the eighth CRPF inter-sector doubles tennis tournament at SDG Headquarters, CRPF Old JNU Campus. In another quarter-final, Western Sector (R K Yadav and Sandeep Dhundia) defeated Special Sector (B S Rathore and Sham Chand) 6-1, 6-2.

Ramamurti Chess
The Botwinnk Chess Academy will organise the inaugural K V Ramanamurti memorial tournament for boys and girls (12-25 years) from December 28 to January 11 at the Russian Cultural Centre, 24, Ferozeshah Road. Entries close on December 28 with the secretary general, Botwinnk Academy. L N Jhunjhunwala, president of the Academy, will inaugurate the tournament.

Mt Carmel sports
