Sonal Gidwani excels
Sonal Gidwani’s all-round display (71 and 4 for 40) and Shahil Khullar’s 4 for 44 helped LB Shastri beat Alpine by six wickets and reach the semi-final of the third all India Moonways JD Textile BDM trophy tournament. Electing to bat first Alpine made 188. Karanjeet Singh Jas (55) and Gagan Sharma (39) were the main scorers. Sonal Gidwani claimed 4 for 44 while Shahil Khullar got 4 for 44.

In reply, LB Shastri achived the target by losing four wickets. Besides Sonal Gidwani, Deepak Soni (36) and Rajan Gupta (24) were the other scorers. Gagan Sharma (3 for 45) was the most successful bowler for Alpine. Sonal Gidwani was adjudged man of the match.

Sonnet triumph
Sonnet Club overwhelmed T N Colts by 86 runs in the fifth Shanti Challenge Cup at Shanti Sports Club (Vasant Kunj) ground. Aakash Chopra (80) and Saket Bhatia (48) were prncipal contributors for Sonnet while Surinder Sharma (28) and Vikas Rande (26) were the main scorers for TN Colts.

Hitesh, Satvinder shine
Stroke-filled 75 by Hitesh Manocha and an excellent bowling by Satvinder Singh (5 for 25) powered Campus Sports Club to a two-wicket victory over Ramjas Institute and enter the semi-final of the second Campus Challenge Cup at Ramjas Sports Complex. Sourabh Anand (60 not out) was the other contributor for the winners. Arun Massy’s 65 and 50 by Rohit Batura went in vain for the losers. Vaveen Kumar was the most successful bowler for Ramjas Institute.

Randeep Singh stars
Fine all-round performance by Randeep Singh (4 for 34 and 37) guided Shankracharya Sports Club to a six-wicket win over Essex Farms and reach the pre-quarter-final of the first Shiv Memorial tournament. Sareen was the top scorer for Essex Farms. Randeep Singh, Raman Chaudhary, Rohit Sharma and Ansul Lamba were the main scorers for the winners.
Brief scores: Essex Farms: 137 (Sareen 29, Randeep Singh 4 for 34, Amit Chaudhry 2 for 18, Rohit Malik 2 for 33) lost to Shankracharya: 140 for 4 (Randeep Singh 37, Raman Chaudhry 37, Rohit Sharma 27, Ansul Lamba 22 not out).
