Shafiq hits 119 in Airlines’ win
A brilliant unbeaten 119 by Haryana Ranji cricketer Shafiq Khan (13×4, 6×6, 81 balls) and his 198-run partnership with Karnataka Ranji batsman J Arun Kumar for the unbroken third wicket helped Indian Airlines beat K N Colts by eight wickets to enter the semifinals of All India Vam Cup at Bharatiagram, Gajraula (UP).

Brief scores: KN Colts: 203 for 9 (Hitesh Sharma 39, Sonu Sharma 5 for 26) lost to Airlines: 204 for 2 (Shafiq Khan 119 nt out, J Arun Kumar 82).

In another match, .S.Group (189: Harish Kumar 42, Rajiv Rathor 32, Balvinder 37, Subhash Sharma 4 for 29, Vikas Sharma 3 for 36) lost to Meerut (202 for 9 in 37 overs: Manu Kumar 66, Satendra Yadav 40, Dinesh Pawar 26, Tapeshwar Tyagi 2 for 32, Jitender Solanki 2 for 37) by 23 runs.

National Sports lifted the Shastri Patel Cup defeating Youngsters Club by six wickets in the final match played at Nangloi.

Adnan shines
Rehman Club prevailed over Blue Bird by 167 runs to enter the quarter-final of the Nehru Cricket Tournament for the Indo-Asian Trophy at the Kalkaji ground.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Rehman Club cruised merrily to a total of 290 in the allotted 40 overs. Adnan Shamshad scored an electrifying knock of 78 which included 3 sixes and 8 fours.
