
Athletics meet postponed
The second Raja Bhalendra Singh international athletic meet, scheduled to be held at the Nehru Stadium on July 28, has been postponed to September 4. According to a press statement by Lalit K Bhanot, secretary, Amateur Athletic Federation of India (AAFI), the postponment was done on suggestions from the coaches.
Cross country race
Reebok India will sponsor an inter-school cross country race for boys and girls, starting and finishing at the National Stadium on July 26 at 7.30 am. The distance will be 2.5 km. The first 75 finishers in the boys section and 50 in the girls category will receive special prizes while there will be cash awards for the top six in each section. Entries can be sent to S K Rana at the Nehru Stadium between 5 and 7.30 pm or at Sports Management Group, 27, Navjivan Vihar (Tel Fax: 6858588).
Narula advances
N K Lakhotia and S P Narula entered the pre-quarterfinals of men’s singles in the DDCA table tennis tournament. In their second-round matches, Lakhotia beat N D Jain 21-12, 21-9 and S P Narula defeated R D Singh 21-14, 21-16. Ashok Ghai beat Munjal 21-14, 21-12 to enter the second round. The finals are slated for July 22.

Rohtas shines
Super Cricket Club beat Madras Coaching Centre by 20 runs in the third final of the inaugural Rajiv Gandhi memorial tournament at Dyal Singh College.

A prize money wrestling competition, organised by Delhi Wrestling Association, will be held at Jama Masjid at 4 pm on Sunday, July 19. Sonu Pehalwan (of Captain Chand Roop akhara) and Surender Singh Nahar (khalifa Jagan akhada) will contest for the Rs 11,000 top prize.
