Pahlaj Nihalani always seems to getting into controversies. May be that is why the media loves him. No one knows what happened to the Sunny Deol film Indian but most people think that the project has been shelved. But that does not stop him from working. He is apparently working on another project — Uljhan starring Puru Raj Kumar and Deepti Bhatnagar. Now, they say he has kicked out his director, yet again. Or at least had differences with him, that too whenthe film is almost complete. This means that Pahlaj takes over and the director, Rajesh Johri, is stripped off his credits. Interestingly, he had done the same with Bhai Bhai which was to be directed by K Ravi Shankar. At some point differences arose and the director was shown the door. But then when you are the boss anything goes. What say, Pahlajji?

Zero ego

Sunil Shetty has no ego hassles. Like co-heroine Raveena Tandon, who gladly replaces heroines, so does Shetty. This guy is hot right now and the moment a hero walks out, it’s Shetty who is approached. And he has been bagging all the right offers. For instance, he walked into Raftar after Sunjay Dutt opted out. Then came Purab Ki Laila Paschim Ka Chhaila with Akshay Kumar and Namrata Shirodkar. Ajay Devgan had been pencilled in for this film but the actor apparently had date problems and walked out. Sunil Shetty has once again taken on Devgan’s role. Ironically, both films have Akshay Kumar as the other lead. Thetwo hated each other at one point and even refused to work together. But now they seem to be thinking like professionals and are actually signing films and completing them together. It appears that the two musclemen have made peace at last.

Another sixer

Believe it or not but cupid has struck in the unlikeliest of places. I am talking about Suman Ranganathan and cricketer Ajay Jadeja. They met at Piano Bar a few nights ago and zap! They ended up at Copa Cabana and ever since that night the two have some been inseparable. The chemistry between them, people are saying is hot. Now, a whole bunch of people cannot be happy about this. For a start, Jadeja has a long-time girlfriend back in Delhi who he will marry, and his affairs on the side will not deter that decision. Then, there is an out-of-work, fat actress who is getting rather possessive about Jadeja. And let’s not forget, Suman’s new / old boyfriend Farhan Irani. The thing is that Suman and Jadeja look so smitten that we will not be surprisedif something serious comes out of this relationship.

Old flames

That Kishen Kumar was no hero material, we all knew. Now that he has donned the mantle of businessman he is looking a shade better, though. Perhaps,it’s his new shorter hair cut. I saw him at a party — a non filmi one — and he looked much better than he has in the past. Of course, he had a bevy of women with him and not one of them was pretty. You know, he loves to have at least two or three women by his side. You may recall how he had hit out at Preity Zinta and praised Tanya, his ex-girlfriend, for standing by him and seeing him through rough times, in a film magazine. Interestingly, Tanya also came for the same party but with a hunk and looked right throughKishen. Perhaps, she had not read that magazine and only remembers the fact that he dumped her.

Baby boom

Do you remember the hype and hoopla when Bobby Deol was launched? Well get ready for the same and more. The Big B’s Baby B, Abhishek Bachchan, is being launchedand the media is abuzz with excitement. People are saying that his launch film will be Aakhri Moghul — we don’t know if it has any connection with The Last Emperor — directed by J P Dutta. Border, the film industry believes, has broken his jinx as a flop director. The script is based on a story that was written by Kamal Amrohi. That’s all we know so far. The question on every one’s lips is: Will Bachchan Jr, like his father, be the aakhri word in acting and stardom. Well, if he is, he can certainly help ABCL restore lost glory.

Papa’s pride

Fardeen Khan is also teetering on the brink of stardom. His launch film Prem Aggan is nearing completion, and the Khan is ready to take on the silver screen. All this is giving papa Feroze sleepless nights. His daughter Laila is getting married soon and the launch film of his son is not helping matters. But with his children’s happiness a priority, Khan has decided that Fardeen needs a break. So, the next schedule, which maylast for almost a month, is going to be shot in Australia. A perfect place to get away. Such a thoughtful father! Wonder what wedding gift to his daughter will be?
