Test discard Laxmi Ratan Shukla played a fine unbeaten knock propelling hosts Bengal to victory against defending champions Railways in an Ranji Trophy group match here today.

Though Bengal earned two points from the match, the batsmen had to overcome Railways spinner Kulamani Parida who nearly snatched the match from the hosts on the fourth and last day today.
