BANGALORE, MARCH 6: Deputy Chief Minister and Karnataka Janata Dal president Siddaramaiah appears to have prevailed upon his ministerial colleagues not to precipitate a crisis in the state by resigning from their posts. Varade Gowda, a close associate of Deve Gowda, has been persuaded to withdraw his resignation which has not yet reached Chief Minister J H Patel. Sources close to Siddaramaiah said he held parleys with the disgruntled ministers. But a dissenting minister claimed that they would wait till Sunday when Patel returns to Bangalore from Delhi via Mumbai to have a serious discussion of their demands. The ministers expect Patel to consult Deve Gowda and make suitable alterations in the reallocation of the portfolios. Otherwise, they will go ahead with their resignations even if their action leads to the fall of the government.
The dissenting ministers will meet again on Sunday at Varade Gowda’s residence.
