Randhir Singh Dheera, alleged tout of Punjab Public Service Commission chairman R.P.S. Sidhu, today recorded his confessional statement in the court of judicial magistrate Ranjit Jain.

He admitted to having collected about Rs 11 crore from candidates for getting them selected through the PPSC. He reportedly also named most of the 30 candidates he had earlier named before police.

Dheera, however, during the five-and-half hours of in-camera court proceedings, did not name any high court judges or political leader.

In a related development, the Punjab and Haryana High Court reserved judgment on the two petitions filed by Common Cause Forum and Sidhu and directed Punjab to furnish the list of candidates selected during Sidhu’s tenure on Monday indicating their ‘‘links’’ along with details of their academic track records.

Meanwhile, the Chief Justice has also asked the High Court Bar Association to furnish concrete evidence to substantiate its allegations regarding the involvement of some judicial officers in the Punjab Public Service Commission Recruitment scam.
