Siemens will be shifting half of its development capability from the US and Western Europe to low-cost countries soon. ‘‘Out of our 30,000 software engineers worldwide, more than 50 per cent are sitting in the high-cost countries like the US and western Europe. A huge amount is going to be shifted to low-cost countries — eastern Europe, China and India being the front runners,’’ Siemems MD J. Schubert said. ‘‘A recent example of this shifting is the Bangkok International Airport, which was won by the Siemens. It has been allocated to Siemens Information Systems of India , for implementation of SAP,’’ said SISL MD A. R. Laud.
