VADODARA, Jan 17: District incharge and State Food and Civil Supplies Minister Jaspal Singh has exhorted the official machinery to implement effectively government schemes meant for the uplift and welfare of tribals of all the 12 talukas of Vadodara. Singh, while chairing the first meeting of the tribal welfare panel for Vadodara district at the Collectorate on Saturday, stressed that the district officials should utilise the Rs 80 crore which had been allocated by the state government for the welfare of the tribals.
Briefing the gathering about the new schemes, he announced that an amount of Rs 30 lakhs had been allocated for the purchase of four fire fighters for use in rural areas. He said four ambulances worth Rs 15 lakhs would also be made available soon.
Singh said that the panel had also finalised to make community halls for the tribals in these rural areas at a cost of Rs 18.15 lakhs.
The minister said a part of the grant would be used for constructing houses for panchayat heads of these tribal areas. Among others, District Panchayat Chairman Kalyanbhai Patel, Development officer Anju Sharma and district collectorate officials took part in the panel meeting.
