VADODARA, May 20: Six IPCL officers started on a Himalayan expedition on Thursday. The mountaineers plan to climb the 22,000 feet Jogin peak in the Himalayas in the next 23 days. Alpine — a city based mountain lovers’ association — has spent Rs 72,000 for the expedition.
The participants have already sought permission from the Indian Mountaineering Federation. Members of Alpine said that this organisation’s clearance is required to tackle any Himalayan peak.
The team will be led by Sandip Vaidya. Citing examples from prior expeditions, Vaidya said that during their expedition to the Mount Satopanth they had managed to complete their expedition despite adverse climatic conditions. The other participants of the expedition are Bhikhu Panchal, Amrish Pothadiya, Dinesh Hajirawala, Dinesh Parmar and Harish Balan.
