The human skeleton recovered from the palace of jailed Independent MLA Raja Bhaiyya would be sent to the National Crime Record Bureau for a DNA test.
Police said the DNA test would reveal whether the skeleton, recovered from the pond in the MLA’s Beti palace in Kunda yesterday, belonged to Santosh Mishra, who had allegedly been murdered by the MLA and his accomplices two years ago.
The skeleton was fished out on the basis of information provided by three jailed associates of Raja Bhaiyya. Santosh’s widow, Vineeta Mishra, had lodged an FIR in this regard last week and the three accused were arrested on Monday.
Vineeta said in her complaint that she and her husband were going on a scooter when Raja Bhaiyya’s car, while trying to overtake them, hit the two-wheeler. Mishra was allegedly taken in the car to Beti palace, where he was beaten to death and his body buried near the pond, police added.
Meanwhile, search operations at the residential premises of the jailed MLA have been suspended for the day following heavy rains since last night. Police recovered a huge cache of firearms from the spot.
