MUMBAI, July 26: About a dozen long distance trains on the Central Railway from Mumbai to Bhopal, Jabalpur, and other destinations in north India are expected to be delayed due to heavy flooding on the Bhopal-Itarsi section.CR sources said flash floods due to heavy rainfall between Benapur and Dharmakundi stations at 5.30 am led to a breach on both Up and Down lines, as tracks were submerged in four feet of water. All north bound trains were gradually diverted to the Itarsi-Nagpur-Bhusawal section. While the Up tracks are expected to be cleared by 4 am, the services on Down tracks are expected to be restored 10 am, they said.Meanwhile, a tragedy on the CR line near Kanjurmarg station was averted due to timely detection of leakage of kerosene from a freight train, at 12.35 pm on Saturday.According to CR sources, the leakage was caused due to a fracture in the coupling of a tanker. The fire brigade was immediately summoned to the station which plugged the leakage in half-an-hour.
