A salon with an in-house cafe, Nirvana is hopeful of its new concept

In the highly competitive spa and salon business, Nirvana, a new salon in Kailash Colony Market scores at least for innovation. The plush yet understated spa done up in fresh earthy tones is reasonably priced with a cheerful café thrown in, within its premises. Kajall Gangwani, the proprietor of Brown Sugar Café in GK-I and Defense Colony decided that her unisex salon should have a separate space for her clients to lounge about in, till their beauty treatments are on. “I’ve been to a lot of salons and some treatments last over four hours. I used to get famished. So I decided to combine a café with my salon,” explains Gangwani, 30. Hukkas, placed next to the low sofas in brown and beige give the place an earthy ambience. The Nirvana Café has the same menu as Brown Sugar—mainly sandwiches, pastas and salads accompanied with smoothies and mocktails priced at Rs 75 onwards. The affordability scores well as hair cuts are priced reasonably at Rs 200 for men and Rs.300 for women. Apart from the usual salon services at Nirvana, the separate room for men is a new feature as is the availability of two doctors who give opinions on acupressure and physiotherapy for ailments such as cervical and backaches, which can cost upto Rs.1500 that includes heat therapy, excercises and soft massage.The only downside is the space that can get a tad bit crowded if too many people turn up at the cafe and or the salon.
