The draft resolution of the Samajwadi Party’s all-India convention at Agra today has urged the President to dismiss the Mayawati government to save the state from going down the drain.

The resolution declares that the constitutional machinery in UP has failed and there is no way to save the sanctity of the Constitution apart from dismissing the government. It adds that the Samajwadi Party (SP) be invited to form the government as it is the single largest party.

SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said that the BSP is not fit to be called a party as it doesn’t have either a written policy or an election manifesto. He said the BSP is not a democratic party as it does not hold internal elections. Mulayam charged that the BSP is held together by a bunch of thugs.

Commenting on problems faced by the state, Mulayam Singh said UP used to be a prosperous state. But in Mayawati’s tenure, the state’s financial state has deteriorated to such an extent that it is not thought worthy of getting foreign aid.

He said the Chief Minister was busy wasting crores of tax money on her birthday, when people were dying of exposure to cold in the state. He said the SP has formally requested the UP Governor to call in all the gifts received by Mayawati on her birthday as they were now government property.
