Following the publication of a report in The Indian Express about the inquiries into encounter killings that took place in the UP capital in the last 10 years, SSP, Lucknow, Akhil Kumar, has written a letter to District Magistrate Chandra Bhanu requesting speedy completion of the pending magisterial probes.A list containing all the details of the encounters was also attached with the official letter sent by the district police chief. Meanwhile, SSP Akhil Kumar said there were some problems that hamper timely completion of such investigations. “We keep getting reminders from the NHRC and the State Human Rights Commission, which we forward to the district administration because we have little to do with the inquiries,” he said.
