
CHANDIGARH, NOV 15: Gurwinder, Amritraj and Vinay of Shivalik Public School-41, coordinated well to beat Government Model School-19, 29-9, 29-15 in the final of under-14 boys group in the Chandigarh State Inter-School ball badminton tournament which concluded here today at the SPS-41.
Sumit and Maninder played scored most of the points for the losers.In a play off match, Government High School-41 outplayed Government Senior Secondary School-38, 29-19, 29-10 to win third place in the meet.
Earlier, in the semifinal, GMS-19 got the better of GSSS-38, 29-25, 29-18.
City shooters excel
City shooters gave excellent performance in the third Kumar Surendra Singh All India Inter-School shooting championship held recently at Meerut (Uttar Pradesh). According to information received here, Chandigarh team bagged four gold and one bronze medal in the meet.
Sabeeha Dhillon and Jasmeen Kaur Brar, who were members of the team set new meet mark in their respective events. Sabeeha with a aggregate score of 370/400 shot gold in air rifle event (ISSF), which was also a new record in junior section.
Jasmeen also broke the old meet mark in the air rifle OS (NR) event (junior) and shot 310/400 for gold.
In the same event Aarti Mehta, with a total of 296 got bronze.
But she made amends in air pistol event (NR) by scoring 343/400 to win gold and break the old record.
Another shooter Gurparnit Singh bagged first position in air rifle OS (NR) event with a score of 308/400 in sub-junior section. He also broke the old meet mark.
