CHANDIGARH, Sept 26: Sanjay Public School, Sector 44 `A' and SD Public School, Sector 32 will clash in the final of the ongoing Chandigarh State Junior football championship at the Sector 17 Football Stadium. In the semifinals today, Sanjay Public School `A' prevailed over DAV School, Sector 8 4-0 while SD School beat Sanjay Public School-44 `B' 4-1 via tie break.In the match between Sanjay Public School `A' and DAV-8, the former dominated the contest and after missing a few scoring chances, forged ahead in the seventh minute through Kalarjeet whose left-foot found the far left corner of the net. SPS `A' got their second goal in the 27th minute when Harish's long range dipped into the goal. The eventual winners led 2-0 at the break.After the change of ends, SPS `A' lads who moved in tandem and easily foiled the DAV defence-line and added two more goals to increase their tally to four. Harish got his second and team's third goal in the 11th minute of second half and nine minutes later Kalarjeet slotted home the team's fourth goal.In the second semifinal, after a goalless draw, tie break was applied to break the deadlock. SD boys converted four spot kicks while SPS `B' team scored one. The final will be played tomorrow.Softball trialsTrials to select the Chandigarh boys and girls teams for the 12th Sub-Junior National softball championships to be held at Mathura in October, will be held tomorrow at the DAV College at 4.30 p.m., under the aegis of the Chandigarh Amateur Softball Association.Football leagueThe Chandigarh Football Association will organise Senior League from October 1. The winners will participate in the North Zone Federation Cup slated to held in Karnal. According to the club president, Phool Raj Singh, competition will be held in athletics, kabaddi and tug of war.
