NEW DELHI, DEC 6: The new party being floated shortly by rebel BJP leader Kalyan Singh is likely to pursue a strident Hintuva agenda so as to embarass the Sangh Parivar.Kalyan's expulsion from BJP is a mere formality with party president Kushabhau Thakre today handing over his reply to the show cause notice to J P Mathur, chairman of the Disciplinary Action Committee of the party.Mathur has convened a meeting of the committee members on Wednesday and the decision to expel Kalyan is likely to be announced the same day. ``Kalyan's reply has left us with no choice but to expel him. We could have gone soft on him if he had diluted his tirade at least in the reply to the show cause notice'', a DAC member said. The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has reportedly been in touch with Shiv Sena leaders. The latter have promised to support him if he takes up the cause of Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya and other Hindutva issues, a close aide of Kalyan Singh claimed. While maintaining his vituperativestand against Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, Kalyan would rake up the Hindutva plank if only to drive a wedge between the hardliners and moderates within the party. The dethroned Chief Minister knows that neither the BJP nor the RSS would be able to counter his Hindutva propaganda. Any attempt to counter his charges would lead to further allegations that BJP was becoming `B' team of the BJP, his aide claimed.Kalyan does not have much choice either after his overtures for a backwards consolidation were spurned by Samajwadi Party leaders who have refused to invite him to their Backwards Class convention to be held in Lucknow on December 19.But, a covert electoral understanding between the two backward leaders Mulayam Singh and Kalyan can't be ruled out, they added.Kalyan would have liked to portray the BJP an anti-backwards party by posing as a martyr.
