The Organiser reports that the DMK has started anti-brahmin propaganda in Tamil Nadu yet again. “M. Karunanidhi has been its sole revivalist, whipping the dead horse as and when he does not find suitable rejoinder to any valid accusation. When the AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa — his arch rival — compared him with Ravana, the demon king recently, Karunanidhi could find recourse in his pet theory of ‘Aryan-Dravidian,’ which has been disproved by expert anthropologists,” the report alleges.
It goes on to say, “One of the important resolutions passed by the working committee of DMK at its meeting held on February 16 under the presidentship of Shri M. Karunanidhi urged the people of Tamil Nadu to literally ‘drive out’ from Tamil soil, three per cent of the population. The resolution reminds the people of Tamil Nadu that they are 97 per cent of the total population whereas their traditional enemies are just three per cent.”
It further states, “Since the 1920s, the Dravidian movement has been spearheading a hate campaign against brahmins branding them intruders from the Khyber and Bolan passes into Tamil Nadu, corrupting the chaste Tamil culture and tradition. It may look ridiculous at the very first glance, fit to be thrown into the dustbin without a second look, but strangely, EVR and his Dravidar Kazagam party could sell this concept to the gullible illiterate and semi literate people of Tamil Nadu… This despite the fact that brahmins of Tamil Nadu consider Tamil as their mother tongue and speak only Tamil at their homes. Apart from this, several of them have made significant contributions for the development of the language and culture.”
The real Deoband
The RSS mouthpiece’s editorial joins issue on the resolution of a recent Islamic conference in Deoband that condemned terrorism. The Organiser is sceptical about the entire initiative and states that “cosmetic sermons on terrorism won’t touch or tackle the issue.”
It further goes on to say, “The first All India Anti-Terrorist Conference organised by the Islamic Madrassas Association at Deoband, last week at which 6000 madrassas were represented, passed a resolution on February 25, condemning terrorism as un-Islamic. The reports in the media were impressive, elaborate and evoked a lot of positive vibes. Every Indian concerned about terrorism heaved a sigh of relief as this was the first time that any responsible segment of Islamic denomination in the country addressed the issue with any level of seriousness… The unfortunate side of the sub-text is that truth is at a discount when the Indian political establishment talks of Muslim issues… Nothing better should have been expected from an institution that remains frozen in seventh century Arabia, a place out of bounds for the civilised world, where students are strictly made to speak in Arabic, where the clergy spews venom on infidels as a matter of faith. The conference has not asked Pakistani or Indian madrassas not to harbour jihadi elements. It has not condemned the sponsoring of terror outfits by Bangladesh and Pakistan. The resolution and its explanatory comments by the mullahs give the impression that the anti-terror meet was in fact a façade to warn and attack the government against decisive action to curb terror. It was not a reciprocal gesture towards the UPA but a bargaining chip to promote the jihadi cult, which they are preaching through madrassas in the name of religious education.”
