BANGALORE, Aug 19: Fast bowler Javagal Srinath, recovering from a shoulder injury, is likely to make himself available for selection to the Indian cricket team scheduled to play Pakistan in a one-day series in Toronto, Canada, next month.

“However, I will know for sure whether or not I have fully recovered only after I play in my first comeback tournament here next month,” said Srinath at an impromptu press conference today.

The Indian team was scheduled to be named on August 29, but Srinath, who began to bowl four days back after a surgery in South Africa in May this year, emphasised that it was upto the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to handle the situation.

He said he had informed BCCI secretary Jayawant Lele about his condition, last week.

“Since I am coming out of an injury, I would not like to rush into anything. I need to get into my rhythm. I have been bowling for the past four days, so, it is still too early for me to know how the shoulder would hold up during a match situation,” said Srinath, who suffered a rotator cuff injury on his right shoulder and returned home from the West Indies earlier this year .

Srinath categorically stated that he felt no pain when he began to bowl last week. “Of course, I am gradually working on my pace. And so, it will be a big game for me next month when I actually bowl in a match-situation,” said Srinath.

Srinath has been working on his bowling all by himself, either bowling at a couple of stumps or a batsman when available, from a shorter run-up. “No, there will not be any change in my bowling action, though I might be a bit more conscious about the shoulder which needs to be properly warmed up before I start bowling,” he said.
