CHANDIGARH, Oct 20: St John’s High School-26 and New Public School-18 got a place into the last four stage of the under-16 boys category in the Edmund Rice cricket tournament being played at St John’s High School.
St John’s-26 beat Shishu Niketan School-22 by 6 wickets while NPS-18 edged past Govt Model School-28 by nine runs.
In the matches played yesterday, Govt Model School-44 scored a 44-run victory over Yadavindra Public School, SAS Nagar while Hansraj Public School, Panchkula beat Vivek High School-38 by six wickets to get a berth into the semifinals of the boys under-14 section. For Govt Model School-44 Shariq played a stellar role scoring 40 runs and guided his team to victory. While Kabir and Dinesh got wo wickets each for the winners.

Volleyball trials
Trials to select Haryana boys and girls team (under-15) for the forthcoming sub-junior national volleyball championship to be held at Cuttack from November 1 to 5 would be held on October 23 at Mahavir Stadium, Hisar at 11 a.m.
According to a press release, players born on or after January 1, 1983 will be eligible to take part in the trials.
