
• Mahela Jayawardene, who scored 136 on Thursday, became the second Sri Lankan after Aravinda de Silva to score 1000 runs against India in Tests.
• Jayawardene, who made his Test debut against India 11 years ago, batted in 14 innings of 10 Tests to achieve this feat.
• Of those runs, he has scored 763 runs at 84.77 with four centuries and one fifty in nine innings of seven Tests at home and 255 runs at 51.00 with four fifties in five innings and three Tests in India.
• By making 115 off 202 balls (14×4), Malinda Warnapura became the 14th Sri Lankan batsman to score a hundred against India in Test cricket.
• This was Warnapura’s second century in seven innings of five Test matches. His first hundred (120) came against the West Indies at Providence in 2007-08.
• Mahela Jayawardene and Malinda Warnapura put on 155 runs for the third wicket which was second-best third-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka against India, behind Sanath Jayasuriya and Aravinda de Silva’s 218-run stand at Colombo in 1997-98.
• The 148-run stand between Jayawardene and Thilan Samaraweera was the third century stand for the fourth wicket for Sri Lanka against India in Tests.
