
PATNA: At least 17 extremists belonging to the outlawed Ultra-Left CPI-ML (party unit) have been arrested from Jehanabad and Patna districts, police said. Nine party activists, including its self-styled area commander, were arrested last night from Golakhpur village in Jehanabad district, the Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajiv Ranjan said. One rifle, two pistols and several rounds of ammunition were recovered from their possession, he said.
Meanwhile, eight members of the underground outfit were nabbed after an encounter with police at Gopalpur-Musahari village in Patna district on Saturday and a country-made pistol and ammunition were recovered from them.
Special court to deal with genocide
NEW DELHI: A special court is being set up to deal with all those involved in the worst-ever massacre of over 60 persons in central Bihar recently, the Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) president Laloo Prasad Yadav, said on Sunday. He told reporters here that the special court would be like the one set up after the Sitamarhi riots in the early 90s when he was the Chief Minister. An inquiry commission has already been constituted to look into the tragedy and the report is expected early, Laloo said.
Rs 11 cr aid for Gujarat Thakor board
AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat chief minister Dilip Parikh on Sunday announced an assistance of Rs 11 crore for the Gujarat Thakor Community Development Board, for the welfare of the community in the state. Addressing a one-day convention of the Thakor community members, Parikh assured them that the state government would carry out all measures for the upliftment of the community in the state. Referring to the formation of the board by the Rashtriya Janata Party led by Shankarsinh Vaghela, Parikh complemented Vaghela for undertaking various steps for the upliftment of the downtrodden.
