JAIPUR, NOV 9: The Rajasthan government has decided to effect a steep hike in the fees of medical colleges, official sources disclosed here on Thursday. Rajasthan has half-a-dozen government medical colleges, located at Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer and Bikaner.
The decision, taken after consultations with the principals of medicalcolleges, would be implemented from the coming session. A committee, appointed by the state government to rationalise the fee structure, had recently submitted its recommendations.
Accordingly, the tution fee has been raised from Rs 240 to Rs 2,000 per year. The committee, according to the sources, had suggested that it be fixed at Rs 6,000. The admission fee for graduation course would be Rs 100, instead of Rs 10. The committee had recommended that it be set at Rs 500. There is a three-fold rise in games fee — from the present Rs 40 to Rs 125, the local exam fee and magazine fee five-fold — from Rs 20 each to Rs 100.
All other fees have also been revised. The post-graduate students would be, however, charged an admission fee of Rs 500, while their tution fee would be Rs 1,000 a year. Other fees had been increased on the pattern of graduation courses.
