VADODARA, Jan 17: A street play with a message may be common, but one with audience participating in it was organised today by the members of city-based organisation Parivartan.
The play called Chalo Aa Bahane Madiya To Khara saw not only the children participating in it, but also the audience who came to watch it from nearby areas.
Organised at Bhavanipura Society, Nizampura, children of different age groups displayed that it was only on such occasions that people from various sections of the society came on a common platform and expressed their views.
Not following the strict rules as in an ordinary street play, the children put up questions to the audience, who were asked to answer and enact it. Talking to Express Newsline, a resident from Nizampura area N Pandya said, “It was a novel experience for the people of this society also.” According to Pandya, it was for the first time he saw the participants calling the audience to participate in a play. Another resident S Joshi said that it was an entertainment of a different kind and involved the participation of the audience, which was encouraging.
One of the members of the organisation said, “The purpose of organising this play was not to convey any message or create any public opinion, but to have an interactive session with the people. There are very few chances where children could interact with the people on the spot”.
The organisation intends to conduct more such plays in the future.
