
CHANDIGARH, Nov 13: The strike by the students of the Department of Education, Punjab University, entered its second day today as the talks between the student representatives and university authorities did not yield any results.
The striking students have meanwhile decided to continue with their strike. Akhil Goyal, the general secretary of the PUCSC, stated that they are awaiting the return of the Vice-Chancellor on Monday and were hopeful of a decision. In case we do not get a favourable decision by Monday, we shall sit on a chain hunger strike, he added.
The agitating students are demanding that the rule of compulsory submission of a dissertation for the obtaining an M.Ed degree should be done away with. They are demanding that the submission of dissertation should be made optional.
