VADODARA, May 18: The students of the first batch of the self-financed Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) course will hold talks and sessions in various faculties of the M S University to spread awareness about the programme.

The exercise has been planned considering the fall in number of the applications received this year as compared to last year.

There is reportedly a misconception among students regarding the recognition of the course, which the enrolled students will clear.

Addressing reporters here on Monday, Programme Officer of the course U R Dangarwala said, “About 350 students have applied for the 55 seats of the BBA programme scheduled to begin by the next academic year.”

He added that 40 of the 55 seats were for students of the general category, 10 for the special category and another five for students sponsored by NRIs.The fee per semester for the students of the general category is Rs 4,000, for the special category Rs 15,000, and $800 for NRI-sponsored students.

Explaining the fee structure, Dangarwala said, “All students have to appear for the written examination and the group discussion. Those who clear both are selected straightaway. And those who have done well just in the GD and can afford to pay the fees are admitted in the special category.”

He admitted that though self-financed courses did not guarantee admission in MBA, they were definitely job-oriented as industrialists conducted classes as visiting faculties and so there were chances of some of the students being absorbed by them.
