Saurav Ganguly

short article insert Style Profile: A backbencher in the style sweepstakes, Saurav has not really changed his style since his debut series in Australia as a teenager. Maybe Hrithik cannot play cricket as well but our Saurav could sure use some dancing and acting lessons. Wife Donna tends to wear his old T-shirts though she looks much better in her Odissi drag. Our style tip for Saurav? Grow out the hair having lost the moustache and go for a more relaxed style.
» Designer to Try: Maybe Sabyasachi could reinterpret Saurav’s look with a new style for the Prince of Calcutta. Brocade anyone?

Rahul Dravid

Style Profile: Tall, dark and saturnine, Rahul, to use an old cliche has bowled many a maiden over. He is a smooth operator but dresses so conservatively that he could be mistaken for a young corporate banker. Lighten up Rahul, you’re still young and need to develop a personal style that could just turn you into the ultimate sex symbol.
» Designer to Try: Tom Ford’s clothes for Gucci are created for someone with just your body type.
Look like a panther on the prowl in Gucci’s tight leather jeans and a see through shirt.

Sachin Tendulkar

Style Profile: After all these years, Sachin finally found a stylist who got his hair and look right. But his clothes are downright boring, expensive though they may be. Get some togs that go with the goatee. Shopping for witty clothes that mix and match those serious designer clothes and lighten your look could just be the order of the day.
» Designer to Try: Hippie might just be the trend for you, so get out the Guru beads and pick up a Hare Ram Kurti on Baga beach for a smashing new look. Designer Wendell Rodricks could well be the Pygmalion in your life.

Virender Sehwag

Style Profile: A face only a mother could love, Sehwag dresses like the friendly neighbourhood paanwala. But paanwala’s make money and start dressing like Marlon Brando in the Godfather Trilogy, which is actually a very good style for this Munda.
» Designer to Try: Gianfranco Ferre could make Sehwag look quite wonderful with that sharp Italian cut in Classic darks. This will add a lot of class to his style. He’s going to be around for a long time so it would be nice if he can get his act together.

Mohammed Kaif

Style Profile: Quite a good looking, sturdy sort of chap with rather unusual looks that women seem to go for in a big way. He should go in for a more dramatic and trendy look with lots of black to make a sexy style statement. Those intense looks could look equally good in a Pathan suit a la Imran Khan as they would in Western formals.
» Designer to Try: Mani by Armani creates sexy form fitting formal silhouettes in shades of anthracite and pewter. Kaif could look superb in brooding blacks and a modern, tighter silhouette.

Sanjay Bangar

Style Profile: Very raw, very unpolished and tends to resemble cartoon character Tin Tin when he’s fielding, not a great skill of his. The quiff on his head has to go for he looks like he’s always having a bad hair day. The next time he’s in Mumbai, he should get an appointment at Juice to get some trendy cut and color.
» Designer to Try: No cartoon T-shirts please, but instead to try a nice designer like Aki Narula to give you a hip new look.

Ajit Agarkar

Story continues below this ad

Style Profile: Sweet looking in a boy next door kind of way, Ajit looks like a toothpaste model. Could most probably make it as a photographic model if he was styled and dressed right.
» Designer to Try: Priyadarshini Rao whose jewel-toned silk pajamas and linen shirts would give Ajit the edge. Would also look wonderful in simple white cotton ensembles to reflect a new spirituality.

Zaheer Khan

Style Profile: Macho and manly, Zaheer should look at actor Akshay Kumar for inspiration. Tarun Tahiliani would design a great look for Zaheer with ethnic drapes and well positioned belts. He has the kind of looks that improve with maturity, so watch him spearhead the bowling for years to come.

» Designer to Try: A tough Western look would suit him well especially if the labels are Guess and Armani Exchange. Get the Stetson, the snakeskin boots and the turquoise studded belt and grow some stubble.

Jagaval Srinath

Style Profile: Quite the elder statesman of the team Srinath is actually a very good looking and imposing figure of a man. His rangy physique and great height could make him quite a model player. Should experiment more with colour to bring out the best in him.
» Designer to Try: Abraham & Thakore walk the fine line between the Classic and the contemporary with as much distinction as Srinath. Could be a design marriage made in heaven and the great way to totally update his look.

Anil Kumble

Style Profile: I think Kumble is one of the best looking men in Indian cricket. His superb physique and tawny good looks give him an added appeal. Can look like a GQ model when styled right like he was in the Indigo Nation campaign. Could also look great styled like Enrique Iglesias as he contains the rival batsmen.
» Designer to Try: The best of Prada for his Western Classics and maybe a touch of Rohit Bal in his ethnic wardrobe.

Harbhajan Singh

Style Profile: When Sardars get stylish, they could go the Daler Mehndi way. But wait! There’s an option. Harbhajan could look great in traditional Sherwanis with turbans to match but let’s leave out the Swarovski.
» Designer to try: Who else but JJ Valaya, couturier to the cow belt. Quieter moments for this all-rounder could mean letting his hair down and trying a young designer like Manish Arora who could teach him a thing or two about cutting edge style.

Parthiv Patel

Style Profile: Sweet Seventeen and Never been Kissed; Parthiv is a likely candidate for a boy band just like Boyzone! He’s most probably just stopped buying kidswear and must resist the temptation to wear Mickey Mouse T-shirts behind the wickets.
» Designer to Try: Gini & Jony’s collection for older teens is affordable and quite grown up. Shopping abroad could mean looking through the Harrods children’s department where they offer very good value for money and hardwearing clothes for hardworking children.
P.S.: Do labour laws apply here?

Ashish Nehra

Style Profile: May one day grow up to look quite distinguished. Youth is the key right now, so how about some hip-hop looks that freshen up the image and could keep this bowler rocking all night.
» Designer to Try: Tommy Hilfiger’s bright primary colors could just bring out the roses in his cheeks. Perfect accessorising with a two-in-one on his shoulder and pink converse sneakers could shock Holland into giving us a walkover, which they might just do anyway.

Dinesh Mongia

Story continues below this ad

Style Profile: Maybe he could go the David Beckham way and try a superbly coloured Mohawk that would slenderize his features. Dressing like Beckham also means wearing clothes that look like they have been homewashed by Posh herself. Nail polish is optional but definitely on the left hand for Young Dinesh.

» Designer to Try: Suneet Varma who would be delighted to re-style Dinesh with the addition of some shimmer, sparkle and shine.

Yuvraj Singh

Style Profile: An extremely ordinary personal style makes him look like a wannabe Punjabi disco boy whose often refused admission to the better clubs. He has the potential to look fabulous with properly styled hair and a better personal wardrobe. We may have to wait till the next World Cup because cricketers, like good wine
take time to mature.

» Designer to Try: Raghavendra Rathore could well be the one to bring out the blue blood in Yuvraj with his severely tailored ensembles that make such a royal statement!
