ADAMPUR, Nov 25: Union Minister of State for Industry Sukhbir Badal today stole the limelight during polling in Adampur constituency by leading a convoy of about 30 vehicles loaded with Akali workers.He tried to enter some polling booths in the constituency, but was prevented by the polling staff.SAD ministers were seen convincing the people to vote for Akali candidate Dheerowal.The Congressmen were also ready for the occasion. As promised by PPCC chief Amarinder Singh to give a tit-for-tat, hundreds of Congress workers had landed in the constituency from all over the state.Gypsy loads of Youth Congress workers were seen going around in Adampur. Reinforcements of Congress workers had been placed in the villages prevent any instance of booth-capturing. Amarinder had announced earlier that Congress workers would not let the Akalis rig the polls.Tension ran high among the Akalis and Congres workers and they came to blows on many an occasion.The role of election observers and the police was by and large fair, as the opposition parties had warned the Election Commision against muscle-flexing by the ruling party.An important thing noticed in the constituency was the failure of the police in preventing unchecked plying of vehicles.
