MUMBAI, DEC 1: Pune-based D S Kulkarni Developers have been awarded the prestigious ISO-9001 certificate by the Quality Certification Bureau (QCB), Canada.
At a brief function here today, the certificate was presented to D S Kulkarni by Housing Development and Finance Corporation chief Deepak Parekh.QCB representative Milan Mehta said the certificate is awarded after surveying the completed as well as on-going works of the company. “This is not a permanent certificate for quality work. We review the performance every year and then decide whether the certificate should be continued or withdrawn. There are instances, where the QCB has withdrawn the certificate for poor performance,” Mehta added.
Parekh remarked that nowadays, consumers were being taken for a ride on the built up area of the flats. “A new concept of super-built up area has emerged in the construction industry. I feel we should revert to the concept of carpet area in the larger interest of the consumers,” Parekh added.Parekh said the consumers were at a loss owing to wide difference between carpet area and super-built up area. “According to my information, in some cases, the difference between carpet area and super-built up area is more than 30 per cent,” Parekh added.
