Lok Adalat
The Gujarat State Legal Advisory Board, with the help of the legal board of the district and the Bar Association, will organise a lok adalat on May 3 at the SPM High school in Mangrol.

The adalat is aimed at solving cases of villagers of Tarsadi and Hathuran villages of Mangrol district, who have not paid back loans they owe to Dena Bank. Those who have taken loans from the bank have been directed to participate in the Lok Adalat and get benefits of the schemes chalked out by the bank. Details can be obtained from the Mangrol taluka branch of the bank, the village branches

or the civil court at Mangrol.

Exhibition
The Women Health Supervisor office of the city, which runs a training school, will conduct an exhibition `Hastu Baalpan, Jan Jan Nu Jivan Niramay Jivan’ on women and child health at the Emergency department of the New Civil Hospital from May 1 to 7. The exhibition will feature a number of posters, drawings and other informative material on health of pregnant women and children. Superintendent of the training centre D D Naik has invited people to the week-long exhibition.

GEB function
The Gujarat Electricity Board has organised a public function on Tuesday to highlight its achievements and the steps taken by the State government to improve the power scenario. Minister for Water Supply and Mines Narottam Patel will inaugurate the function that will be held at Surat People’s Bank Hall at Samruddhi in Nanpura.

Convention
The Gujarat Pradesh Panchayat Parishad, Gandhinagar, and the Surat District Panchayat have organised a divisional convention to deliberate on efforts needed to strengthen the Panchayati Raj institution in the state. The convention will be held at Uma Mangal Hall on National Highway No 8 near Kamrej Crossroads on April 30, according to District Panchayat president Harshadbhai Chaudhary.

Coaching classes
A delegation of the Surat Academic Association, comprising operators of private coaching classes, will leave shortly for Gandhinagar to meet Education Minister Anandiben Patel. Association president Dipak Danak and other office-bearers had called on Patel when she was in Surat recently. Danak stated they had discussed the State government ordinance on coaching classes and would hold a detailed discussion in Gandhinagar.
