Students to go on fast
Around 30 members of the students’ union of the Arts Faculty of M S University, led by Janak Mackwana, will go on an indefinite hunger strike from Wednesday in protest against the development fee introduced by the university. They have also demanded an explanation from Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dipak Kumar De on what the development fee would fund.
New SBI scheme
The State Bank of India will launch its Multi Option Deposit Schemes on Wednesday at select computerised branches in Gujarat. Depositors opening MODS accounts in the bank can avail of finance against their deposits any time without having to break the deposit, thereby losing interest. Individuals, including minors above 10 years of age and NRIs, are eligible for the scheme.
Inauguration
Minister of Health and Family Welfare Ashok Bhatt and M S University Chancellor Mrunalini Puar will inaugurate the newly constructed building for setting up its cobalt therapy unit and cat scan unit on Thursday.
Congress rally
Members of the city unit of Congress, led by Maulin Vaishnav and Narendra Rawat, took out a rally from the Gandhi Nagar Gruh to the Collectorate on Tuesday to protest against the spiralling prices of edible oil. Appointment
Pradipsingh Jadeja took over as Chairman of Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Company Ltd (GNFC) on Friday. Jadeja’s association with the chemical field has been long-standing and he has made notable contribution in the area of chemical production.
HSC topper
Monali Talati of Alembic Vidyalay has topped the city for her HSC (general stream) examinations. Talati’s results were held up due to a computer error for her mathematics results. While at present she has secured 100 for the paper her results, which were declared earlier showed that she had secured 10.
