OOPS….A Sutarwar striker gets past an All-Parsees defender (in blue), who find it difficult to stay on his feet as flash rains in the second half made the ground slippery.
MUMBAI, July 27: Both MDFA League matches played at the St Xavier’s Ground in Parel, ended in draws.
In the Harwood League match, an aggressive All Parsees Sports Club were able to hold last year’s league toppers Sutarwar to a 1-1 draw.
All Parsees took the lead in the 12th minute with a fine goal from striker Shaheen Mistry.
But they could not hold on to their lead, with Sutarwar coming up with the equaliser, just one minute before the end of first half. Substitute Apparao Chiman was the scorer.
The second half was all about missed chances, with both teams unable to capitalise on them.
Sutarwar wasted a penalty midway through the second half after Porus Guzdar handled the ball.
But the battle of nerves between striker Lynn Boothello and goalkeeper Farhad Irani was won by the latter, with the ball going straight into his hands.
While All Parsees have won a previous league encounter, Sutarwar are yet winless.
A Chhatrapati Shivaji League (Div III) match played earlier in the day at the same venue saw Rogets Sports Club take on Lalit XI. The match ended in a draw with both teams unable to score any goals.
