KOPARGAON, Nov 2: We could progress by only one per cent in the field of technology since 50 years after independence because of our dependence on foreign technology", said Bhalchandra Chopane, president of the NewDelhi-based Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE)Chopane, was speaking as a chief guest in the valedictory function of second national convention of ISTE student chapter hosted by Sanjivani Education Society's College of Engineering and K.B.P. Polytechnic, Kopargaon on Monday. Chopane urged for change in the educational system. Indian technology, he said, is drastically affected due to the advanced technology in the world. Knowledge of new technology, need of consumers and expectations, fluctuations in the market have affected the educational system. Lamenting the failure of the present technical educational system, he urged the engineers to give importance to invention."The educational system should synchronise education and industry and importance should be given to productivity", he said.Cash prizes and certificates were awarded to winners of the technical paper presentation, technical report presentation and debate competition.Prof Sahebrao Dawange conducted the programme. Principal VB Ninandhe proposed the vote of thanks.
