Until Nandigram, West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi’s seemed the “ideal candidate” for the post of Vice-President of the country, a CPI(M) Politburo member confided recently. Mushirul Hasan is in the list but the Left is not very keen on the historian’s name. Amid this, the Congress is awaiting the Left’s list of VP candidates eagerly. “For the presidential election, we proposed and they vetoed. We acted and they reacted. It’s our time now to play the same game,” said a Congress leader.
