This omission is not something that Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi would take lightly, especially at a time when the Indian diaspora is hogging the limelight like never before. Ravi’s name has gone missing from the directory of the Government of India officials, prepared by the Department of Personnel and Training. Though the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs is headed by Ravi, it is department Secretary Nirmal Singh who is shown in the directory as the person steering the ministry. The names of two joint secretaries and the Protector General of Emigrants also figure in the list of officials of the Ministry. Ravi’s officials are planning to bring this “glaring omission” to the notice of the DoPT.
